The press release is about how Latino Policy Forum works with other organizations to change policy. I think that by allowing a dialogue among community members to happen Latino Policy Forum is creating a better way to see what people need. This will allow Latino Policy Forum to do a better job of serving these communities.
In the time since the community meeting the data that was collected has been used to find better ways to spend the budget of the organization. The press conference also helped the other nonprofit organizations work better with Latino Policy Forum because the needs and concerns of all the organizations were heard. I think this shows how much communication helps people to be more productive.

Working for a nonprofit can be hectic and fast-pace. It can also be a lot of busy work. Today there was a lot of filing, cleaning out cabinets and general organization to do. I don’t mind doing it, only because I know that it is a lot of the small things that build up to bring the whole organization together.
Nonprofit can also have a lot of turn over in the way of its employees. Today was the last day for one of the board members. She spent most of her day trying to explain how to do her job to the two new employees who were hired to take her place.

I had my first day of volunteering at my nonprofit organization on Friday. It went well and I was lead to believe that we will have a lot of responsibility put on me because, like most nonprofit organizations it is understaffed and going through many employee transitions.
I was told that I would be involved in planning a benefit and silent auction for the organization that will take place in November. This does not leave me a lot of time to plan, find volunteers, get silent auction items and get a sense of how the organization works. However, because of how fast this is all going to have to come together I think it will be even more enjoyable.
My biggest concern for the fundraiser is finding funds because the economy is doing so poorly. I am afraid that people will not want to donate or bid on items.
