The “Cubbie Faithful” as they call themselves certainly didn’t do much to be heard during Game 1 yesterday. I’m not just talking about after Dempster gave up the grand slam, or Manny literally dug a ball out of the dirt to place it half way up the left center bleachers. I’m talking about the fans sitting on their cold hands when they should have been standing and cheering every time a Dodger had two strikes. This is the playoffs people, it’s what makes October baseball what it is. As a Cubs fan myself, I feel like we got showed up by the South side fans after their impressive “blackout”. Maybe it’s the Cubs front office? Every other team gets creative with thunder sticks or rally towels. Or maybe this beer ban is taking its toll? Either the fans aren’t getting enough, or too much too early. The Cubs now find themselves in a must win game tonight, and need their home crowd to help out. So everyone grab a beer, warm up, and make yourself heard. Show other crowds we don’t need thunder sticks to be loud. I have seen Wrigley at its loudest (Game 7 2003 NLCS), my hometown Kane County Cougars can make more noise. Back your team tonight and let’s go to Hollywood with this thing knotted up at 1-1.
